Using the Symbol font with Netscape under UNIX

To typeset mathematical symbols the Symbol font is used. For this the <font face=symbol> attribute is applied. The symbol font seems to be present on most Unix installations. The Microsoft Explorer uses this font by default.

To use the Symbol font with Netscape under UNIX do the following:

1. Add the following line to your .Xdefaults (or .Xrescources) file:
   
   

   Netscape*documentFonts.charset*adobe-fontspecific: iso-8859-1

2. Run xrdb .Xdefaults in a shell
3. Restart Netscape.
