Joint International Conference and Autumn School

The International Research Training Group and the JSPS Program of The Japanese-German Graduate Externship "Mathematical Fluid Dynamics" Darmstadt-Tokyo as well as the DFG Priority Programme "Transport Processes at Fluidic Interfaces" (SPP 1506) are organizing a joint conference and autumn school in Darmstadt, October 5-8, 2015.

The Priority Programme SPP 1506 is anchored within Applied Mathematics, but with strong interdisciplinary links to the Natural and Engineering Sciences. The aim is to study multi-physics phenomena at interfaces such as

  • Hydrodynamics of two-phase fluid systems
  • Transfer of mass and heat across interfaces
  • Capillary and Marangoni effects
  • Effects of absorbed components
  • Phase changes
within the research areas
  • Mathematical modeling and analysis
  • Numerical methods and simulation
  • Experiments and Validation

On the other hand, the International Research Training Group IRTG 1529 and JSPS-JGGE focus on aspects of

  • Analysis
  • Stochastic
  • Numerical analysis
  • Optimization
  • Logic
in Mathematical Fluid Dynamics to pursue fundamental research also from an interdisciplinary point of view.

Six Invited Speakers and two Lecturers (offering two-hour tutorials) cover a very broad range from modeling and engineering to mathematical and numerical analysis. Further talks by established scientists and short communications by PhD students and postdocs will underline the scientific activities of members of SPP 1506, IRTG 1529 and JSPS-JGGE.
