TU Darmstadt

The Meeting

The core of the school consists of two mini courses, each with five 90-minute lectures by

Marek Biskup (UCLA)

and

Oren Louidor (Technion)

The main theme of the school is to survey recent developments in the theory of extreme
values of logarithmically correlated fields, including key examples such as the 2D Gaussian
Free Field, branching diffusions, and the local times of planar random motions. The courses
will examine the key results, tools and techniques of the theory along with its applications to
the analysis of extremal properties of random walks and random interfaces. The lectures will
be coordinated to provide a fairly self-contained introduction to the subject.

The aim of this school is to introduce PhD students and young post-docs to these fields
highlighting some recent developments.

There will also be some invited talks in the general topic area of the school. In addition,
participants, in particular PhD students, are encouraged to deliver short talks of 10min to
introduce themselves and their research interests.

The venue is building S2 04, Hochschulstraße 8, 64289 Darmstadt (map).
