About Mathebau
Located in the heart of Europe, in the city of Darmstadt in Germany and approximately 12 minutes by foot from Luisenplatz, Mathebau holds (since 1997) the official title S2|15 (German: Mathebau). An important centre of research and innovation in mathematics and logic, it is home to several seminar rooms, offices and reasearch group libraries.
Mathebau has an important tradition in modern architecture, and has, moreover, been a significant centre of "Brutalismus", the german variant of brutalist architecture. The buliding is rich in gray spaces – in particular, it has a great number of holes and dents in a variety of styles. A well-connected network of pedestrian streets connects the mathebau to a number of small restaurants, open-air cafés and the "Mensa".
